Meet Madeleine Stamer – Artist, Educator, and Creative Force

If you’ve wandered into our new Burleigh Heads store, you may have already met some of Madeleine Stamer’s dreamy blue-hued artworks. They sit proudly on our walls, radiating warmth, whimsy, and a deep connection to the natural world — much like the artist herself.

Madeleine (or Mads, as I lovingly call her) is a long-time friend of Little Tienda and a prolific practicing artist and arts educator. With a background in ceramics and an enduring passion for play-based learning, Mads has taught visual arts to children from kindergarten through to secondary school in some of Melbourne’s most respected schools.

Her art is deeply inspired by the natural world — think folk-style florals, curious bird characters, and the kind of dreamlike charm that feels both nostalgic and new. Her love for the process of creating is something she shares so generously through her beloved Hello Art sessions.

These classes, held in her colourful studio at the rear of Look Look Gallery in Gardenvale (Naarm/Melbourne), are more than just art lessons. They’re joy-filled explorations into creativity, self-expression, and discovery. Mads encourages her students to follow their interests, play freely, and dive into the creative process without rules or pressure. It’s all about nurturing imagination, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination — and most importantly, creative confidence.

We recently collaborated with Mads on a special photoshoot, captured beautifully by the endlessly talented Jessica Prescott. Mads wore our Reversible Asta Scrunch Skirt paired with the Lime Kaia Vest — hand-knitted from organic cotton and perfect for a day of paint-splattered fun.
